Father's Day is coming!

Father's Day is coming!

Is it just me or is it sneaking up WAY too soon?!?!

So many mommas are lost at the mention of this elusive holiday. They just don't know what to get DAD. Well, here is an idea!

Now, I can't say that I came up with this all on my own, I have to credit my great friend Carri for finding this gem on Pinterest HERE. And they have a great tutorial, so check it out!

I changed a couple of things, so here is what I did.

Cut a 2x6 board into two 12" pieces.
Use 3 screws to secure the boards to each other with one laying flat, and the other standing up in the middle.

Once the boards are together, let your imagination fly! The blue scroll pattern and tan and cream stripes are scrap book paper that I purchased at Hobby Lobby. I just cut them to fit, and Mod Podged them on. Then I coated the tops in Mod Podge also so that I would have a protected surface and it would give it that little bit of shine.

Then I lightly sanded the edges of the board and applied a dark stain to the sides and around the edges of the paper. I just used a damp cloth and blotted it on until it looked like I wanted it to.

Then Painted some letters and the Bulldog Clips (ya, I didn't know the name of those and it made them really hard to find)  that I got at Walmart with dark brown craft paint. I Mod Podged the clips to make them look shiny and protect them (spray paint would work too, I just didn't have the color I wanted).

Use a glue gun to attach the letters, and ribbon through 3 drilled holes to attach the clips, and find your favorite pics! Easy as pie!!!

I even let the kids go to town and paint the back! (they also helped some with the mod podge and the sanding) Hopefully hubby will love it, and it will still look adorable displayed proudly in my home.

Give it a try!!!
